How to Create a Signature Cocktail.

A signature cocktail turns a drinks menu into part of the event itself. It gives guests something to talk about, ties the bar into your theme, and takes the pressure off choosing from a full cocktail list. Whether you are planning a wedding, a corporate event, or a private party, here is how to design a bespoke drink that feels entirely yours.

Why It Works

Why a Signature Cocktail?

Personalisation

Your drink, your story. A signature cocktail reflects the couple, the brand, or the occasion — not a generic menu.

Instant talking point

Guests remember the drink with the custom name and the story behind it. It becomes part of the event narrative.

Instagram moments

A distinctive colour, garnish, or glassware choice makes the drink shareable. Guests photograph signature serves more than standard pours.

Simplifies bar service

One or two pre-designed cocktails reduce decision fatigue, speed up service, and keep queues short. Your bartenders can batch prep in advance.

The Process

Step-by-Step Process.

  1. 01

Pick a spirit base. Vodka for clean versatility, gin for botanical depth, rum for warmth and sweetness, whiskey for richness, or tequila for something with bite. Your base spirit shapes everything else.

  2. 02

Choose a flavour profile. Decide between sweet, sour, bitter, or savoury — then layer from there. Citrus and berry work for most crowds. Herbaceous or spiced profiles suit more adventurous palates.

  3. 03

Consider the season. Light and fruity for summer garden parties. Warm and spiced for winter events. Floral for spring weddings. Rich and dark for autumn celebrations.

  4. 04

Match to your theme and colours. Use natural ingredients to hit your colour palette — elderflower for pale gold, hibiscus for pink, butterfly pea flower for blue, pomegranate for deep red. The drink should look like it belongs at your event.

  5. 05

Name it. A good name makes the cocktail memorable. Use a pun, a reference to the occasion, the couple's names, or the company brand. Keep it short and easy to say across a noisy bar.

  6. 06

Test with your bartender. Book a tasting session with our bartenders to refine the recipe. We adjust sweetness, strength, garnish, and presentation until it is exactly right.

Base Spirits

By Event Type

Ideas by Event.

Weddings

Floral, elegant, and photo-ready. Think elderflower and champagne with a sprig of rosemary, or a rose-infused gin fizz with edible petals. Many couples create one cocktail each — his and hers, or ours and theirs. Soft pinks, golds, and blush tones photograph beautifully. See our wedding bar hire packages.

Corporate Events

Sophisticated and on-brand. Match the cocktail colour to company branding, add a branded stirrer or custom napkin, and keep the flavour profile crowd-pleasing. Vodka or gin bases work well — clean, professional, universally liked. An espresso martini variation never misses at a corporate do. Explore corporate bar hire options.

Birthdays

Fun, colourful, and unapologetically indulgent. This is where you can go bold — neon colours, candy garnishes, dry ice, or glitter drops. Rum and tequila bases lend themselves to sweeter, punchier serves. Name it after the birthday person and serve it in a statement glass. Browse private party bar hire.

Garden Parties

Refreshing, fruity, and light. Long drinks over ice work better than short, spirit-heavy serves in warm weather. Cucumber and mint gin coolers, watermelon margaritas, or a sparkling Aperol variation all suit an outdoor setting. Keep the ABV moderate — guests drink more slowly when they are not trying to warm up. See garden party bar hire.

Book Your Cocktail

Your Drink, Your Event.

A signature cocktail is a bespoke drink designed to match the theme, colour palette, and personality of your event. The Sesh Bars works with clients across London to create custom cocktails for weddings, corporate events, birthdays, and garden parties. The process involves choosing a base spirit, selecting a flavour profile, matching to your event aesthetic, naming the drink, and testing it with a professional bartender. Signature cocktails are included in all-inclusive mobile bar hire packages at no additional cost, and non-alcoholic versions are always available.

08 — FAQ

Signature Cocktail FAQ.

Can I have a non-alcoholic signature cocktail? +
Yes. Every signature cocktail we create has a non-alcoholic version available. We design a matching mocktail that mirrors the flavour profile, colour, and presentation of the alcoholic version so non-drinking guests feel equally included. Popular bases include Seedlip, Lyre's, and house-made shrubs. There is no additional charge for the mocktail version.
How far in advance should I plan my signature cocktail? +
We recommend finalising your signature cocktail at least four weeks before your event. This gives time for a tasting session, ingredient sourcing, and any adjustments. For weddings and large corporate events, six to eight weeks is ideal. If you are booking last-minute, we can work with shorter timelines — contact us and we will make it happen.
How many signature cocktails should I have at my event? +
One or two signature cocktails is the sweet spot for most events. One keeps things simple and creates a single talking point. Two gives guests a choice — typically one spirit-forward and one lighter or fruity option. More than three dilutes the impact and slows bar service. For weddings, one cocktail per partner is a popular approach.
How much does a signature cocktail cost? +
Signature cocktails are included in our all-inclusive bar hire packages at no extra charge. We work with you to design the drink as part of the booking process. For dry hire events where you supply ingredients, we provide the recipe and quantities list so you can purchase exactly what you need. See our packages page or contact us for a tailored quote.
Can my signature cocktail match my event colour scheme? +
Absolutely. Colour matching is one of the most requested customisations. We use natural ingredients, syrups, and garnishes to achieve specific colours — butterfly pea flower for blue and purple, hibiscus for deep pink, turmeric for gold, matcha for green, and activated charcoal for black. We can also add edible flowers, gold leaf, or custom garnishes to match your theme.
