Weddings

Racecourse & Country Weddings in Newbury

Newbury and West Berkshire offer some of the most flexible wedding venues in the county. Newbury Racecourse hosts weddings for 40-550 guests across suites from the light Owners Club to the heritage Royal Box, with grounds for teepees and marquees and an on-site lodge hotel. Donnington Valley Hotel is a four-star country hotel with spa, golf course, and elegant event space. Beyond these, converted barns and private estates across the Lambourn and Kennet valleys host blank-canvas marquee weddings. Our mobile bar covers the drinks reception through to the evening bar from a single freestanding unit.

Newbury falls under West Berkshire Council. Licensed venues like the Racecourse and Donnington Valley hold their own premises licence, so an external bar team needs no extra paperwork. For marquees on private estates or unlicensed barns - common across the rural West Berkshire countryside - a Temporary Events Notice must be filed with West Berkshire Council at least 10 working days ahead. Licensing requirements are checked for each event, and we can arrange a Temporary Event Notice where required and agreed.

Wedding bar packages include bespoke drinks menus, printed bar cards in your colour palette, and a dedicated event lead. Open-bar pricing covers spirits, mixers, soft drinks, ice, and glassware. Full details are on the wedding bar hire page.

Barns & Marquees

Marquee & Barn Bar Hire Across West Berkshire

West Berkshire is a rural county of converted barns, farm venues, and private estates, and marquee receptions are the primary format for larger celebrations outside the licensed venues. Our bar units are designed for exactly this: stable on uneven ground, weather-sealed for the outdoors, and compact enough to fit inside standard 6m marquee bays or a barn corner. Power comes from a single 16-amp socket or a small generator, which is often the right call for an off-grid estate.

Garden parties and village hall events around Newbury, Thatcham, Hungerford, and Kintbury follow a simple format: a freestanding bar, a TEN where the property is unlicensed, and a two-person bartender team for groups up to 80. The Lambourn Valley's racing-yard estates and the Kennet Valley villages are regular booking areas for us.

08 - FAQ

Newbury FAQ.

How much does mobile bar hire cost in Newbury? +
Open-bar rates are £6.50 per adult per hour without alcoholic cocktails and £7.50 with alcoholic cocktails, for the first four hours, and £4.50 per adult per hour after that. The standard minimum is 100 chargeable adults and four hours, so a four-hour event starts at £2,600 without alcoholic cocktails or £3,000 with. No VAT is added on top of these rates. Smaller events, dry hire and bespoke packages are quoted individually. We are based in Reading, around 25-30 minutes from Newbury along the A4 and M4, and any travel charge is confirmed in your quote.
Which local council handles a Temporary Events Notice in Newbury? +
Newbury sits within West Berkshire Council, so a Temporary Events Notice for an unlicensed venue goes to West Berkshire Council. Licensed venues like Newbury Racecourse and Donnington Valley Hotel hold their own premises licence and need no TEN. For marquees on private estates or unlicensed grounds - common across the West Berkshire countryside - the TEN must be filed at least 10 working days ahead. Licensing requirements are checked for each event, and we can arrange a Temporary Event Notice where required and agreed.
Which Newbury venues do you cover for mobile bar hire? +
We cover Newbury Racecourse, which hosts weddings and private events for 40-550 guests with teepee and marquee options, Donnington Valley Hotel and its golf and spa grounds, converted barn venues across West Berkshire, and private estates through the Lambourn Valley and Kennet Valley. Send your venue postcode and we will confirm access and load-in.
Can you provide a marquee or barn bar for a West Berkshire wedding? +
Yes. Marquee weddings on West Berkshire estates and converted barns around Newbury are among our regular bookings. Our bar units are built for outdoor and barn use - weather-sealed, stable on uneven ground, and compact enough to fit standard 6m marquee bays. Power runs from a single 16-amp socket or a small generator, and we advise on whichever suits the site.
How far in advance should I book a mobile bar in Newbury? +
For weekday events, 4-6 weeks is usually enough. For weekend weddings and summer parties, book 3-6 months ahead, popular West Berkshire venues book 12-18 months in advance, so secure your bar once the venue is confirmed. Call 0118 449 3066 or WhatsApp 0790 175 1337 to check your Newbury date.
